Engineering Technology For The Future

Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Manufacturing) with Honours (MQA/FA2290)




  1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and engineering specialisation principles to define and manufacturing engineering technology procedures, processes, systems ormethodologies
  2. Solve broadly-defined engineering technology problems systematically to reach substantiated conclusions by using tools and techniques appropriate to manufacturing engineering technology field.
  3. Design solutions for broadly-defined manufacturing engineering technology problems, and to design systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, environmental and sustainability concerns.
  4. Plan and conduct experimental investigations of broadly-defined problems using data from relevant sources
  5. Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering technology tools, with an understanding of their limitations
  6. Function effectively as individuals, and as members or leaders in diverse technical teams.
  7. Communicate effectively with the engineering community and society at large.
  8. Demonstrate an awareness of and consideration for societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and their consequent responsibilities.
  9. Demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering technology practices.
  10. Demonstrate an awareness of management, business practices and entrepreneurship
  11. Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of engineering practices, taking into account the need for sustainable development.
  12. Recognize the need for professional development and to engage in independent and lifelong learning

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

  1. To produce engineering technologists with mastery of the needed expertise in manufacturing industries using the foundation of technology and innovation.
  2. To prepare engineering technologists that demonstrate skills of lifelong learning for professional and personal development
  3. To prepare engineering technologists with good management skill, good professional ethics and understanding local law in manufacturing issues
  4. To prepare global engineering technologists that work and communicate effectively in multinational and multidisciplinary engineering community.

General Requirement
Passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/ Equivalent with credit in Malay Language or Malay Language Paper July and passed History (at least Grade E)
At least Band 1 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
Level Requirement
Passed STPM with at least PGNK of 2.00 for the following subjects:
i. Grade C (NGMP 2.00) for General Paper
ii. Grade C (NGMP 2.00) for two (2) other subjects
Passed Matriculation/ UM Science Fundamental level/ UiTM Fundamental level with at least PNGK of 2.00
Obtained a diploma /equivalent qualification recognized by the
Government and approved by the Senate
Program Requirement

Passed with at least grade C (NGMP 2.00) at STPM level for the following two (2) subjects:

i. Mathematics T/ Advanced Mathematics T

ii. Chemistry/ Physics/ Biology


At least Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)


1. Candidates who took Biology with grade C in STPM must at least get credit in Physics during SPM.

2. Candidates who did not take Physics in STPM level are required to take Basic Physics in the university.

At least grade C (2.00) in Matriculation/ Fundamental level for the following two (2) subjects:

i. Mathematics

ii. Chemistry/ Engineering Chemistry/ Physics/  Engineering Physics/ Biology/ Civil Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering


At least Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)


1. Candidates who did not take Physics in Matriculation/ Fundamental level are required to take Basic Physics in the university.

Obtained a diploma in Engineering/ Engineering Technology or equivalent for public/private institution/polytechnique with minimum PNGK of 2.50


Obtained a Diploma in Vocational and Technical (DKM/DKLM/DVM)/ qualifications in relevant field deemed equivalent by the government of Malaysia with minimum PNGK of 3.00 or average marks of 80%


Passed with at least grade E at SPM level for the following three (3) subjects :
  1. English;
  2. Mathematics; and
  3. Physics/Science
Candidates with no SPM, must pass a Bridging Program organised by their own institution or organised by the university


Candidates who did not fulfil the PNGK above but obtained PNGK 2.30 and have a working experience of at least 2 years in related field which could be considered.


At least Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

Nota :

1. Year of entry and actual duration of study is subject to credit exemptions approved by the faculty.

2. Bridging Program at UMP will commence in 2018.
